Sketch it, Bro

Once again Dr. Rivera has introduced to us another awesome Literature strategy called Sketch to Stretch. I enjoyed this activity as well as many of the others. It enables one to not only summarize in a drawing what was being read, but to draw what the reading meant to the reader. This involves higher order thinking, which is what we want our students to be able to do. I will certainly utilize this strategy often with my social studies students. We also had food today in class. The potluck was great. Thanks to everyone who brought food. And thank you, Dr. Rivera for allowing the potluck. I really enjoyed this class too!!

  5. Thanks for the chicken TJ! I liked the sketch to stretch too because it does get you to think about what symbols or pictures to use to properly capture the message from the story.

  9. As I've said before, I am horrible at drawing, but this activity was fun. So, i think the students will definitely enjoy doing it. And the fried chicken was DA BOMB!! Also, thanks so much for bringing my power cord to me, otherwise i would not be able to write such awesome comments to everyone and finish my mid-term in time. Thanks again and see you all in class tomorrow.
