This was an interesting assignment for me. I never knew there was so many different ways to go about reading a book. This assignment helped me to see that when you read something, that you need to pay attention to the before, during and after of the reading. This was a fun assignment and I learned a lot and can't wait to use the strategies in my classroom. I had worked on this awhile ago before it was due with a friend of mine. We had a great time finding the strategies and discussing how we would use them in the classroom. I think this next year will be a bit scary, stressful, and fun. Can't wait.
I also had fun Vonnie! I really liked learning about the new ways to keep the comprehension up and bring excitement to reading a book or other piece of literature. It was an exhausting assignment though after picking and choosing the 15 ones to include.
ReplyDeleteScary, stressful and fun, I can't agree with you more. I too, was not aware of the preparation needed during, before and after reading a book until this assignment. We will obviously be prepared for next school year.

ReplyDeleteYup! There are alot of new strategies out there or reading. The only thing I need is to find the time to digest these strategies.
ReplyDeleteI think that is why teachers need to continue to go to school for certification so that they will be up to date on teaching methods.
ReplyDeleteEvery year is always something different. I think I get scared and nervous the day before classes start for each year I've been teaching. It's such an exciting and rewarding experience.
