Reading Strategies Assignment

This assignment helped me realize the different reading strategies out there. I know I will be using some of them in my classroom--particularly the one about mapping out ideas after reading. I think this will empower students with a new way of solving problems if they are allowed to draw and visualize what they are thinking. Keeping up with these strategies is a great way for us to stay fresh and be professionally ready for the challenges our students bring. I really appreciate having this activity. Now I know where to go for more ideas and information when I need it. My favorite one actually lists a strategy for pre-, during and post-reading: http://www.paec.org/david/reading/general.pdf

  5. As math teachers, we're always looking for problem solving strategies that our students can use. It's such a difficult concept for students to grasp and I'm glad we got the chance to see that there are many strategies out there that we can apply in our content.
