June 14, 2010, Evelyn’s Reflection

Before my reflection, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to TJ and CAT. HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY to VONNIE. May the Lord continue to bless you all and motivate you to persevere in this MAT program.

Another afternoon of new information to digest. The word “crystallize” stands out in my mind. The transactional theory, literature response logs, character journals, graffiti board, sketch journals, etc. are excellent tools to get students involved with the reading. I now believe that we should take some time to invite readers’ responses, have information digested, and share or discuss the topic. This can happen in any content, even math. I will use these methods as a form of formative assessment in my classroom.

  3. Thank you for such a wonderful birthday wish!! back to the blog at hand, I too agree that we need to take more time to reflect and to help the information crystallize into the students' mind. But I do think these are some wonderful strategies of ways that we can help that to happen.
