Today was another interesting day. Although MOST of us are DRAINED and ready to go home and fall asleep, we engaged in interesting literature circles. I enjoyed the first literature circle about the Transactional Theory. We brought up some good points...that we all must work hard to help our students become aesthetic readers. Although it is good for them to read for information, they need to reach deeper into the readings and try to understand and feel what the author is trying to say. Also, the character journal was a great activity. This, too, will also help the students become aesthetic readers because they are in the character's shoes and can 'feel' their thoughts and ideas.
I agree with you. Its great that we are learning the tools to promote an aesthetic stance among readers.
ReplyDeleteSpot on! Spot on!
ReplyDeleteIt's so important for our students to actually "like" what they are reading and not just go through the motions. I think the character journals and literary circles are so fascinating.
ReplyDeleteAgain, I liked the activities presented today. If a student does not like the book at least he or she can relate to it through the interactive activities.
ReplyDeleteYes, Transactional Theory and today's activities helped keep me alert. I am so tired today; have been all weekend. These activities are all so interesting that it makes me want to take the praxis II for Literature!
